THE SHED: FRANKLIN MA
Hole In The Wall? Not exactly, but it is definitely tucked away within the depths of a shopping plaza, and an amazing find.
My friend and I met here for lunch recently, to discuss an upcoming podcast that we are creating. We sat at the bar and LOVED the bartender, who was hilarious and made some kickass cocktails. She gave us some brilliant ideas about how to switch shit up on the menu to create something that fulfilled all of our needs, and I love that.
The caesar salad she presented had the most addictive dressing I've ever tasted, and it was filled with cornbread croutons. I also ordered a chicken and waffles appetizer, which was insanely good-and so massive that I packed most of it up and had a full dinner the next day.
My friend ordered the crab cakes and they were phenomenal.
As we ate and drank, I had this philosophical moment of realization about how many people are out there, procrastinating on what lights them up and brings them joy. This stemmed from a conversation with my friend about how she has joined a choir, which is my absolute fucking worst nightmare.
"Are you good?" I asked.
"NO! But I've always wanted to do it, so I'm doing it."
And that was it. She wanted to do it, so she did it. She didn't sit around ruminating for months and years, waiting for the perfect moment, waiting for her fear to abate. She just...fucking did it.
I see so many people waiting and waiting to do the things they want to do-even with trying out new places! Do you know how many people tell me that they've always wanted to try dining alone, they haven't done it yet, but they will...one day?
Or how many people I've talked to (I talk about food a LOT in my business, lol) who lament missing out on a place they've always wanted to go, and now it's closed?
Life is short. If you want to have an experience, HAVE THE EXPERIENCE. Don't wait for the perfect moment, because it doesn't exist. The perfect moment to do something you want to do is the moment you decide to do it.
Now, go book a reservation at a place you've been dying to try :)
